I do not have the scrap cars keys - are you still able to collect?
This instance is not a problem just so long as we have satisfactory evidence that the scrap car belongs to you and that we have your permission to gain entry to the scrap car. Our drivers are experienced and equipped to deal with this kind of problem.

My scrap car has been stood and unused for some time and will not start/move?
This instance is not an issue at all, in fact a high percentage of cars / vehicles collected by us have long since been roadworthy, please be assured it makes no difference whether the scrap car has been stood for years, months or weeks - we shall safely uplift it for you and be able to scrap it.

Does my scrap car need to be complete?
In an ideal world yes - but we fully appreciate that small parts may have been removed by you, all that we ask is please tell us the full extent of the scrap car via the extra notes section within our online scrap request instruction form.

How & when should I notify the DVLA?
As soon as we remove your scrap car - If you do not have a logbook with a covering letter we suggest you print two copies of the Raw2K Vehicle Surrender form and send one to DVLA, Swansea, SA99 1BD.

Will you remove bare & stripped scrap car shells?
The cash payment is not applicable in this instance, however our Nationwide Network of 23 fully licensed ATF agents can dispose of scrap car shells - Please give us a call on 01226 770306 to arrange this.

Am I required to do anything before and after collection?
You need to clear all personal contents from your scrap car and remove any tax disc that you might wish to claim back. You must then complete section 9 of the logbook (V5 Document) and send it to the DVLA. Failure to notify them could result in a fine. If you do not have the V5 then you must notify them in writing (Always recorded post).

Yes, we appreciate that you might be out during the week due to working commitments etc; subsequently we are pleased to confirm that we operate scrap car collections for scrap during weekends and on evenings.

Do you issue a (COD) Certificate of destruction?

Our standard operating timeframe is normally within 72 hours and on many occasions same day.

Do I have to be present on collection?
No, we can make arrangements for you to leave the keys and documents somewhere. We appreciate that sometimes your scrap car to be scrapped may not be in the same location as you.

Are you a fully licenced end of life vehicle dismantler?
Yes fully, all of Raw2K’s 23 nationwide sites are fully licensed by the Enviornmental Agency and associated councils and subsequently possess the following pertinent licenses;
- Waste Carriers License
- Waste Management Operators License
- Goods Operators License
- Authorised Treatment Facility Site License
- Scrap Metal Dealers License
- Hazardous Waste License
Do I need a logbook (V5) in order to scrap my scrap car with you?
We can scrap your car without the logbook (V5) document. However we do require some form of identification/evidence that you are the car vehicle owner, i.e. sorn declaration, insurance cover note or service history in your name.
It is important that you notify the DVLA with a covering letter that you have scrapped your vehicle. You might also want to print an extra copy of our scrap car scrap request surrender form and post that to DVLA, Swansea SA99 1BD.

I would like to retain my cherished registration?
When your application has been approved by the DVLA, you will receive a V778 Retention Document. We advise you not to instruct us untill you receive and submit this document and your cherished registration has been reallocated by the DVLA.

Raw2K’s operations are focused upon lowering our waste and increasing recycling, therefore providing us with a controlled and reduced sustainability impact wherever possible. A scrap car is much greener than an abandoned car and the owner is paid cash for scrapping their car.
Raw2K’s fully licensed Sites store all recovered cars / vehicles on an "Impermeable surface" this means a surface or pavement constructed and maintained to a standard sufficient to prevent the transmission of liquids beyond the pavement surface.
The ELV Directive requires the provision of: appropriate storage, including impermeable storage for oil contaminated spare parts some spare parts, e.g. engines, require oil in order to preserve working surfaces. Such parts shall be appropriately segregated and stored in or on containers that are secured such that oil cannot escape from them. Oily parts shall be stored on an area with an impermeable surface and a sealed drainage system.
The ELV Directive requires: removal and separate collection and storage of fuel, motor oil, transmission oil, gearbox oil, hydraulic oil, cooling liquids, antifreeze, brake fluids, air-conditioning system fluids and any other fluid contained in the ELV, unless they are necessary for the re-use of the parts concerned, and appropriate storage tanks for the segregated storage of ELV fluids; fuel, motor oil, gearbox oil, transmission oil, hydraulic oil, cooling liquids, antifreeze, brake fluids, battery acids, air-conditioning system fluids and any other fluid contained in the ELV.
Airbags, Tyres, Catalysts, Glass and Non Ferrous Metals shall all be removed and disposed of inline with the ELV Directive.
