No. All payments will have to be made in a “cashless” method.

What is a “cashless” method of payment?
Our agents use various methods to make payment. These include…

• Cheque.
• BACs Transfer (Bank Transfer).
• Payment direct to your Debit / Credit card.
• Prepaid Debit / Credit card.
• Paypal.

Does the legislation cover the whole of the UK?
The legislation currently covers England and Wales. Our agents in Scotland have voluntary decided to adopt the new legislation in preparation of it becoming law. Our agents in Northern Ireland are still paying cash.

Will I be able to get cash from other companies?
No. If any company offers to collect and pay cash then they are doing this illegally. By getting your vehicle collected by a company that is not legally licensed you will not get a Certificate of Destruction guaranteeing the vehicle is to be scrapped. If your vehicle is then sold on you could be liable to speeding fines / parking tickets that occurred after you got rid of the vehicle.

Is there any exceptions to the rule?
If the vehicle is to be repaired and not to be scrapped then the agent can pay cash. This option is only available where…

• Part of the agents business is the repair and sale of vehicles.
• The vehicle is in a repairable condition.
• The vehicle has a valid MOT certificate.

No Certificate of Destruction will be issued.
