The combination of a large number of steps and a gravel path make the Bishop’s Palace unsuitable for people using wheelchairs or with limited mobility but it can be viewed from the outside. There is reasonable access to the ground floor of the Earl’s Palace.

The Cathedral Church of St Magnus the Martyr was founded in 1137 by Earl Rognvald Kolson and dedicated to his uncle, Earl Magnus Erlendson. Completed c.1500. It contains many items of interest and ranks as one of the finest cathedrals in Scotland. Organ by Willis 1926. Owned and maintained by Orkney Islands Council. Custodian on duty.
